My man

Out for his 33rd birthday dinner at Le Relais de l'EntrecĂ´te on the Pearl.  Lovely and indulgent, this restaurant has no menu - they only ask you, "how would you like your steak?"
6 years, 1 best-day-EVER wedding, 2 kids, 1 hypno-birthing class (weird, but we survived), 12 countries visited, 1 move across the world, countless episodes of reality TV, Richard and I continue to find our way in this exciting new world called the 30s, which is shaping up to be the best decade yet.

There is so much I can say about my husband, but all I will say here is there is no one in the universe I would rather be with in this adventurous life.  He is the first person I want to share things with and the one I love ending each day with...

My girl

I sat down with my beautiful baby girl for dinner tonight as I do every night. We were being silly and suddenly began a little exchange that had us both catching our breath over belly laughs. We'd look away with a long face, then look at each other and erupt giggling. You don't get it? You're in good company...and might I add, the majority. Richard just watched us and shook his head later this evening when we were at it again during bath time. With the exception of my longtime friend Ali - who is the only other person I know that shares this nonsensical humor - I'm pretty sure that not many other people can find hilarity in just, you know, nothing. But that's just it! I shared one of those inside joke-type exchanges normally only shared with a best friend, with my beautiful daughter. It was so special and fun. I'm delighted that my girl can find humor in the little things in life!

Unequivocally your favorite time of day

Darling Sebastian,

Today was a special day. I indulged in the opportunity to hold you in my arms while you napped...for over an hour. With the weight of your sleeping body snug in my arms, I admired your skin, the contours of your neck, your chubby cheeks and plump, undulating chest. I couldn't take my eyes off of you. Your mouth occasionally puckered and sucked, and your eyes were chasing the images of your dreams beneath your eyelids. In the stillness of the moment, I physically felt my love spill over from my heart to fill the confines of my skin. I am loving watching you grow and develop daily, and look forward to many many more years of you in my life.

Thank you for you,

Your mama

It's rough at the Ritz

Okay, obviously not. It's one of these expat things unique to the Middle East; you deal with being called Carrie all the time (instead of Kelley) or Mamsir (yes, as one word) everywhere you go along with complete strangers asking (& expecting) to hold to your baby, and endless nonsensical things in what we affectionately called Doha, "The Land of Almost."

BUT you have some amazing travel opportunities, access to so many different cultures and customs and food, and the unique understanding of a culture that can only be gained by living and working alongside one another.  And then there are the nice perks like a membership to the Ritz.

As such, we are here just about every weekend as we've got wonderful friends who are also members and who have children about the same age - it's like we're on holiday every weekend and we're not complaining!  Isabelle loves that she has a wee-bit of freedom to roam around like she owns the place.

The wheels on the bus go 'round and 'round...

Our little monkey

Both Isabelle - when she was an infant...

...and Sebastian love looking at these stark shapes & pictures.

{From wearing diapers to changing diapers}

Today was a BIG day. We had not one, but TWO, #2s in the toilet!
