Happy Anniversary Qatar!

Two Doha posts in one day! After a year of barely posting anything about where we live, I'm playing a bit of catch up. Which is apropos seeing as TODAY marks our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY in Doha! Time has flown by and speaking for our unit of three, soon to be four, I can say the verdict is that we're really quite happy here. Thanks Doha for being a great first posting for our family.

One thing about Qatar is that they seem to subscribe to the theory "if you build it, they will come." They have invested in just about every facility, stadium, field or otherwise that a country could in order to host international sporting events from every Olympic genre. Soccer, well football as they say everywhere in the world but the states, is their passion sport and they are lobbying hard to host the World Cup in 2022. Living here, you see Qatar 2022 banners, billboards, and car stickers everywhere.

Below is one of the promotional videos for Qatar 2022, though I'm posting it because it features some of the great sights around Doha. Enjoy!

Souq Waqif

Souk Waqif is one of my favorite places to go in Doha. The Arabian vendors through the winding alleys, the open air restaurants, and the ever-present sweet scent of shisha smoke really makes you feel like you're in the Middle East.
